Spotlight Interview with Bernd Roser and Niels Vindsmark, Hygiene Program Manager at Habasit and Sales and Brand Owner Program Manager at NGI

Bernd Roser, Hygiene Program Manager, Habasit

Niels Vindsmark, Sales and Brand Owner Program Manager, NGI

What do you hope attendees will gain at your webinar?

Bernd

My aim is to show food processors how belting experts can help them meet their hygiene and food safety challenges. I can’t promise a single solution to cover absolutely everything, but I’ll be sharing some key concepts and tools that will make a significant and important difference.

Niels

I’m looking forward to giving our attendees ideas on how to achieve concrete and pragmatic solutions, especially regarding hygienic design. My goal is for them to finish the webinar and look at their production equipment with new eyes, seeing details they were previously unaware of.

What discussions are you looking forward to having with the attendees?

Bernd

Any know-how exchange about experiences with food processing belting will help me better understand our attendees’ challenges. We can only improve by working together as an industry. Everyone is involved: manufacturers as well as equipment and component suppliers.

Niels

Sharing knowledge and discussing individual issues and solutions is fundamental if we want to have a useful discussion on hygienically optimized solutions. I want to hear about local difficulties and daily challenges in the workplace and contribute my experience and advice.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Bernd

The huge variety of processes, food products and applications keep me constantly on my toes and energized to find fresh solutions. Preset answers might make life easier, but they are rarely optimal, and it’s much more interesting and rewarding to find out-of-the-box ideas that give excellent results.

Niels

I really enjoy being able to move the status quo and challenge statements like “hygienic design is just a theory…” Creating innovative tools and ways of doing things, and changing the entire mindset on how to approach hygienic design all along the supply chain,  gives me huge satisfaction.

How did you get into the conveyor belting industry?

Bernd

I started out in marketing and sales controlling and realized very quickly that deeply understanding products and customers’ needs were the only way to succeed. I went into product management and learned how to work with customers to meet their needs and understand industry trends and opportunities.

Niels

I’ve been in belting since 1997, and it has been privileged to live in different countries, which gave me the opportunity to see the industry from various angles and perspectives. What I’ve learned over the years and from different experiences helps me help my customers optimize their businesses.

Where is your favorite place in the world and why?

Bernd

Somewhere in rural France. There are many great places, but perhaps the best is the Vezere Valley. You can find culture, history, landscape, sports and great food there. It’s a combination I really enjoy.

Niels

I’ve been lucky enough to spend 12 years of my life in Italy, though I come from Denmark, and people often ask me where I prefer to live. For me, the external environment where you live isn’t so important. What counts is how you feel inside. If I have the most important thing in the world around me, i.e. my family, I think I could live anywhere in the world and enjoy every day.

Spotlight Interview with Dr James Hinchliffe, Senior Life Sciences R&D Consultant at Capgemini

Dr James Hinchliffe, Senior Life Sciences R&D Consultant at Capgemini

What do you hope attendees will gain at your webinar?
A broad-brush overview of what data-driven drug discovery could mean, and practical insights on how to move the initiative forward at both a strategic and tactical level.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the attendees?
I look forward to discussing how others have approached the journey to data-driven R&D and what they have learned. I’d also like to hear what problems people are still struggling to solve.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
I’m really motivated by the opportunity to contribute to problems that really make a difference to people’s lives, and you could argue nothing does that more than working in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector. Seeing data about innovative new medicines coming through systems I’ve designed or contributed to, and seeing things moving faster because of new tools I’ve helped to put in researchers’ hands, gives me a real buzz.

How did you get into the industry?
As I was finishing my PhD, which I really enjoyed, I was interested in doing something more practical with the skills and knowledge I’d gained in academia. I’ve always been interested in programming and technology, so joining Tessella (part of Capgemini now),  which is full of people with a similar background, was a natural next step. After a few projects for pharma clients, I had the opportunity to specialise more in the sector, which I took enthusiastically as I think the challenges – and potential – that life sciences IT and digital offers are some of the biggest and most interesting out there.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?
Well, I certainly love being at home in Oxfordshire with my family, but after the last year of lockdown it would be nice to be able to travel a bit further afield. I think I’d have to choose Scandinavia for its combination of incredible landscapes and relaxed, informal cities.

What will the audience gain from attending your webinar?

We would like to share how Nanopharm can support the development of complex inhaled drug products, which is a synergy of the right formulation within the right device. The final product then requires to be screened by a set of analytical techniques, and our services offer ground breaking technology for this. Ultimately, we intend also to support our customers with our regulatory knowledge and safely accelerate the final submission of their new product.

How did you get into the industry and what do you most enjoy about your role?

After graduation, I started an intership with Nanopharm to pursue my passion in R&D and I have now moved into an analytical role. I am mostly attracted by the complex interactions with the user and the formulation in inhalation products and develop appropriate techniques to study these.

What are you hoping to achieve in the future in your personal and professional life?

Scientific matters are generally explained using English, so to be able to showcase our work in my native language is for me a personal and professional goal. Nevertheless, it is rewarding to be able to overcome the challenges of ‘’untranslatable’’ words into Portuguese concepts.

What would someone be surprised to know about you?
Conte algo sobre você que nos surpreenderia?

I was born in Brazil where I spent most of my early childhood. Later on, my family moved to Portugal where I did most of my studies. As a Portuguese speaker, I can certainly say that I have lived a battle of accents “within myself”.

Spotlight Interview with Ricky Pickup, Technical Trainer at STAHL CraneSystems

Ricky Pickup – Technical Trainer at STAHL CraneSystems

What do you hope attendees will gain at your webinar?

Many industries (food industry, pharmaceutical industry, medical technology, clean room technology or cleaning technology) place special hygienic requirements on the work equipment to be used and with this also on the crane systems and chain hoists. As these hygienic requirements differ greatly, the solutions in question are generally those developed individually by STAHL CraneSystems for the respective application and environmental conditions.

For optimal design of the overall solutions, crane components are selected from modular systems and are adapted by means of special designs to the respective areas of application. A common example being, the use of heat bands where condensation could form on or in crane components, especially at temperatures below the dew point.

As the term “cleanroom” implicates keeping such hygienic areas up to industry standards involves efficient cleaning techniques, resulting in high demand on the lubrication on the cranes, that serve for a frictionless material handling.

Throughout this webinar I will use practical examples to show, where the use of heating systems can prevent the build-up of condensation in crane components, how the intended lifetime of the chain hoists and crane components can be guaranteed using the correct combination of IP protection, durable surface coatings and applying industry suitable lubrication to components potentially exposed to harsh but essential cleaning techniques.

Furthermore, it is often the case in the above mentioned industries, not only is it the hygiene requirements that place special demand on the equipment to be used but also restrictive constructional obstacles that require engineered crane solutions to adapt to very low ceilings, access to cleanrooms via bay doors and potentially explosive atmospheres.

At the end of this webinar the attendees will have gained an insight to the endless possibilities of engineered industry solutions from STAHL CraneSystems.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the attendees?

We are constantly confronted with challenges in this field, different industry specifications and customer needs require a high level of adaptability. I am always interested to hear how others have found solutions and their experience in the field and look forward to seeing how we can help with specialized solutions to meet customer’s demands.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The opportunity to be involved in projects in all corners of the world and working with the teams to find the solutions for the customer’s needs in a continuously developing industry keeps everyday interesting.

How did you get into the industry?

After working in construction in the mining industry this was a section that really caught my attention. To start out with one of the industry leaders in the area of overhead crane systems and components was an exciting challenge that made the decision an easy one.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?

There are so many amazing places to just pick one is almost impossible but one spot that will always stick with me was a visit to Traverse City and the surrounding areas. On the top end of lake Michigan, I found the people incredibly friendly and a picture-perfect scenery.

The thing I enjoy the most about my current role is very much in keeping with Xero’s mission and purpose. I love seeing how the cloud enables things to be seamless, simple and smarter and how harnessing those can help make the lives of small business owners and their advisors better.

How did you get into the industry?

It is a pretty dull tale of not really knowing what to do after completing my a-levels; following a chance suggestion from an accountant who used to go into the shop my mum worked in I applied to a few firms and then got my first job and never looked back. Working at various accountancy firms then led me to joining Xero almost 3 years ago as a Partner Consultant before moving into my current role officially this year.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?

Ice Arena Wales, that’s where the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team play. My wife and I are season ticket holders and go to every game.  My youngest son Alfie even attended his first game at 6 days old. Unfortunately with COVID the EIHL had to stop in March with a few games left of the season and the 2020 – 21 season was subsequently cancelled.  I’m hoping that we can get back to watching more ice hockey late this year.
