David Brett1.         What do you hope the audience will learn from this webinar?

The primary purpose of the webinar will be to help prepare participants for their clinical manufacturing projects by identifing the primary reasons why projects are delayed and the methods to avoid them.  Participants will learn about planning steps characteristic in clinical manufacturing and how to create a plan for choosing the right packaging and materials. We will also review legal aspects that are often stumbling blocks to advancing a project, as well as how to choose a high-quality CDMO for clinical scale-up manufacturing.

2.         What discussions do you look forward to having with the audience?

I would like to engage participants in a discussion about the specifics of their particular project, what they have experienced as major road blocks and how they have solved the problem. By openly sharing our experiences we can better anticipate our own clinical manufacturing problems and, hopefully, have a plan in place to avoid them before they occur.

3.         What do you enjoy most about your role?

I am in the unique position working hand-in-hand with many of the world’s leading innovative biotech firms that are responsible for bringing new and exciting products to the market. Every day brings new challenges and I enjoy not only having a front row seat, but also being an active participant in helping to resolve these challenges.

4.         How did you get into the industry?

My background is in clinical biochemistry having studied Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia in the UK. I received an MBA at the University of Bayreuth, Germany and a PhD in Biochemistry at the Imperial College in London. I entered the biotech industry following postdoctoral roles in cancer and diabetes research. Since 2015, I have been Team leader of Product and Service Management for Vetter. Nigel Ashton, European Specifications & Projects Team Leader – Hempel

A conversation with Nigel Ashton – European Specifications & Projects Team Leader at Hempel

Nigel Ashton

Experienced Project Team Lead & Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the Protective Coatings industry. Skilled in Steel Protection Solutions, Process Control, Energy, O&G, Civil Infrastructure, Coatings Technology, and Engineering. Strong customer oriented approach, program and project management professional with an Engineering education focused on problem solving solutions.

What do you hope the audience will learn from this webinar?

I believe it will help the audience understand the importance of the update. How the changes will impact how Protective Coatings are specified and the importance of how Hempel, as a Global Manufacturer, can assist from our value proposition ensuring the additional changes can add an advantage of how to view Protective Coatings in the overall value chain. Updates to the Standard does not me extra costs but better value with the right partner.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the audience?

It’s imperative that the audience recognises and understands the importance of the update. Hempel have all the bases covered to enable the update to be a benefit and not a merely an issue, after all we are in a problem solving & solutions business so we welcome the issues that customers may have for discussion during and after the Webinar.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

My role & my Teams role is very diverse from supporting my internal customers & colleagues with support, direction & guidance every day. However the best part is enlightening our external customers how we can help improve the  way they think about preventing corrosion and why it should be considered very early in the value chain to make a significant and beneficial difference to the entire project design. Many of my customers welcome the fact that a specification service within Hempel exists supporting Sales when a long term project needs early impetus but may not result in a benefit to Hempel for some time, that’s why our Team exists.

How did you get into the industry?

A UK Protective Coating Industry leading Applicator offered me an apprenticeship in 1984 so I could also study my Engineering HNC, because it was 2km from my house helped but it is a really interesting industry that applied to all levels of Engineering and Industry once I learnt the effects & Cost of Corrosion on a global scale.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?

That’s a tough one…I love Wales my place of birth and home for the last 50 years it’s outstanding natural beauty and beaches means I don’t have to travel far for vacation. However I have travelled throughout Europe and I was inspired by Athens, astonished by Istanbul, welcomed passionately by Barcelona, comfortable in Copenhagen, Brno, Gothenburg, Vienna & Frankfurt but London is a fantastic place, we as a family visit regularly so it has to be London.

Debbie Huck-Jones, Malvern Panalytical

A conversation with Debbie Huck-Jones at Malvern Panalytical

Debbie Huck-Jones

What do you hope the audience will learn from this webinar?

I hope the audience will find out how our range of analytical imaging systems can help them better understand and optimize their particulate materials, and how they can apply them to their workflow across a huge range of industries – from pharmaceutical development to metal powder production, and from R&D to manufacturing.  I’m also looking forward to explaining the benefits our current customers have gained from using these technologies.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the audience?

I would be really interested to hear from our audience about the challenges and bottlenecks they struggle with in their particular industry, and discuss how our technologies might be able to reduce these. I’m particularly looking forward to speaking to existing users of our imaging technologies, to understand how they are currently using them – what they like and what they could do without, or perhaps what really frustrates them.  I’m definitely open to constructive criticism from the audience!  I’m also keen to understand how they think the improvements we introduce will be of interest to them.  Equally, I’m very excited to explore new possibilities with any audience members who are totally new to analytical imaging.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I really enjoy meeting people and learning how and why they use our instruments. I love  learning about new applications and solving new problems.  I have been lucky enough to travel around many different countries gaining perspectives from many different customers across a variety of applications. No two days are ever the same!

How did you get into the industry?

In many ways I got into the industry by chance. When I completed my PhD, I knew that working in a lab full time wasn’t right for me and that I wanted to be in a more commercial role, but equally I wanted to stay in science. I started off working for an engineering company as a sales engineer – this was a great commercial introduction but wasn’t ‘scientific’ enough!

I actually grew up near Malvern (it really is a place), and knew some people who worked at Malvern Panalytical, so always kept a look-out for available roles.  One day, I spotted a vacancy for a product technical specialist and decided to go for it – it was a perfect fit for me!  I have now moved into product management but my role still offers a great balance of scientific elements, working  with particle characterization, and also commercial experience, working directly with customers and helping solve their challenges.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?

I actually love the Malvern Hills.  I grew up in a tiny village not far away from Malvern, and it was always such a childhood treat to go walking in the hills. The view from the top, over Herefordshire and onto Wales, then back across Worcestershire, is amazing! Whenever I’m travelling, that view of the hills coming into sharper focus is always the first sign of being close to home.

Piyush Saxena – AVP & Head, Next Gen Datacenter Practice, HCL

A conversation with Piyush Saxena – AVP & Head, Next Gen Datacenter Practice at HCL.

Piyush Saxena

Piyush has more than a decade of experience helping HCL customers design contemporary data centers. His current focus is to design and implement SDI-driven Data Centers for Enterprises looking to support their digital initiatives.

Join Piyush Saxena on 27th September for a webinar entitled Accelerate SDI Adoption to Power Digital Transformation  at 1PM ET / 10AM PT.

What do you hope the audience will learn from this webinar?

IT infrastructure is quickly moving from monolithic blocks to software defined spaces. Customer conversations nowadays are focused on everything as a service i.e. towards logical construct of infrastructure and not on asset ownership – that is where SDI becomes crucial. As we speak, the SDI market spend is projected to reach $54 billion by 2019. In the webinar, we will elucidate how SDI can be used to architect the future of enterprise IT. The webinar will help you understand challenges faced by an enterprise while adopting SDI. How HCL, via its end-to end SDI offering, is enabling enterprises take the software defined approach to modernize their infrastructure and build digital backbone.  The audience will understand the steps and HCL accelerators used to build SDI.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the audience?

As with any new and evolving technology – without a mature, well-considered and tool-based approach, SDI initiatives can become complex and expensive, and not generate the promised ROI if not approached correctly. Customers need to decide between a build vs buy approach when it comes to SDI.

This will be the focus of my discussion in the webinar. How organizations should approach SDI adoption, how they should mitigate the risks associated with implementation, and how they should plan investment in SDI. Enterprises should look to adopt a certified blueprint based approach to SDI which can help them to drive IT agility, dramatically reduce deployment & operations risks, and increase efficiency.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I am currently responsible for identifying and evangelizing all new technology based solutions for our customers. With the plethora of technology solutions available in the market it’s a daunting task to evaluate and recommend the best and most optimal solutions to our customers and ensure successful implementation of the same. It gives me immense satisfaction to see successful implementation of our recommendations to our customers. We end up making wrong choices at times, but addressing these choices and providing alternate solutions as required is a challenge we take head-on.

How did you get into the industry?

I was always interested in technology solutions that can be practically implemented to deliver business solutions to customers. I was extremely inspired by the technology boom in early 2000’s which brought Indian IT firms to the global mainstage. To pursue my interests in this areas and also contribute to the Indian IT success story I decided to pursue a career in this industry. It has been a fulfilling roller-coaster ride till date.

Where is your favorite place in the world and why?

I hail from a small town in India named Bhopal. With a large number of lakes and hills and a moderate climate, this is one of the most scenic places I have been in my life. With the extensive travel that comes as part of my job, I cherish every day I can get back to my home town and spend time with my parents and friends, tracking or boating.

What do you hope the audience will learn from this webinar?

I hope the audience understands the importance of operational data in the pharma industry. Operational Data addresses several crucial challenges; from time to market in R&D all the way to the ability to make data driven decisions in QbD and PAT, but also covers regulatory aspects such as Data Integrity and CPV.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the audience?

How others have done global rollouts of data infrastructure, what business cases they have solved, compliance questions such as data integrity and Electronic Batch Recording and Review by Exception.

Keeping in mind my background in statistics and data science for the pharma industry, I would be happy to receive questions related to analytics and tools and solutions for operational data access.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The ability to meet many skilled and talented people who really challenge and educate me. As well as being part of the digital revolution in the industry and having an opportunity to influence and contribute to it which is very exciting.

How did you get into the industry?

It started at the Umeå University where I was introduced to the Design of Experiments and Chemometrics, and I later acquired a position which allowed me to apply and educate the pharma industry on these topics. I think the reason that I got into stats and match was that during my studies at the university I enjoyed solving problems more than being in the laboratory.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?

Wherever I am, I most enjoy being with my family, and in particular doing something all of us enjoy, for example alpine skiing in winter or fishing in the mountains in the summer.

Janez Sodja – NiceLabel, Enterprise Sales Manager

Janez SodjaJanez Sodja is Enterprise Business Manager at NiceLabel, helping companies to adopt best practices in labeling and marking.  Having worked with hundreds of clients from around the world, including Fortune 500 companies from a variety of industries, he has deep expertise in enterprise solutions that enable companies meet the highest quality process requirements.  Recently, he worked with world’s largest manufacturer of organic dairy products that implemented a standardized label management solution for all of its labeling and marking printers, which enabled them to reach previously unattainable levels of productivity.

What do you consider to be some of the current key talking points concerning labeling in food and beverage industry?

We see a growing trend for process optimization, such as centralization and standardization, as companies are, in order to compete, under increasing pressure to digitally transform their processes. With regard to labeling, companies realize legacy labeling systems are not future-proof.  Traditional systems don’t enable them to reduce direct and indirect cost and capitalize on market opportunities. Companies are looking at how to increase the agility of their business, ship product faster, have less downtime, have less product returns, reduce inventory, mitigate the risk of mislabeling etc. Also, there is more and more focus on web technologies and mobile printing.

Are there any prevailing food and beverage company concerns regarding printing & labeling?

Increasingly, companies tend to avoid being dependent on legacy systems or plug-ins. They start to see the disadvantages of having to install label applications on separate workstations, so browser-based web technologies are becoming more and more important. Several companies are challenged with how to get to a single unified label management solution that would also support direct marking, so they wouldn’t need different solutions from different vendors. We also see that more and more companies want to reduce IT complexity because this also helps to reduce costs and unplanned downtime, as well as save time and increase agility.

What do you hope the audience will learn from this webinar?

We will explain the success story of a global dairy company that significantly reduced costs and increased accuracy by standardizing labeling and marking printing. We expect the audience to learn about the next generation label management systems and see how they can turn hidden labeling costs into visible savings and achieve new levels of productivity.

What discussions do you look forward to having with the audience?

We will be delighted to illustrate the differences between traditional labeling practices and modern label management systems as well as demonstrate how companies can minimize revenue loss and increase sales by eliminating labeling or marking errors, achieve faster time-to-market by empowering business users to respond to label change requests without IT assistance, and significantly reduce IT costs and unplanned downtime.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

It is rewarding to work with companies from around the world and see how NiceLabel can help them solve real business problems and become more successful.
