Hello and welcome to the September newsletter! Once again I’ll be highlighting various events taking place this month in my own unique way. I hope you’ve all enjoyed summers whether in the office or lying on a beach chillaxing.
Do you like architecture? Do you also like design? Do you like free events? Then Open House London 2015 is for you! It is the capital’s largest annual festival of architecture and design, taking place on 19th & 20th September 2015. It is a rare chance to explore the cities eclectic and best architectural landmarks. Buildings surround us in a city but the one thing we don’t learn about in schools is the fabric of a place, such as the structure, framework or composition. The urban fabric of our community has such a strong impact on us on an everyday basis. To find out more and see which places you can visit click here: http://www.openhouselondon.org.uk/ The 2015 Rugby World Cup runs from 18th September until 31st October and is hosted by England. Matches take place in thirteen of the best sporting venues across the country. Unfortunately my beloved Czech Republic rugby team have never qualified for the world cup so I will be supporting England this time. Keep up today with all the fixtures and other information here: http://www.rugbyworldcup.com/ The United States Open Tennis Championships is a hardcourt tennis tournament which is the modern version of one of the oldest tennis championships in the world, the U.S. National Championship, for which men’s singles was first contested in 1881. Since 1987, the US Open has been the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam each year; the other three are the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon. This year’s tournament began on 31st August and will end in a few days on September 13th. The usual suspects remain in the tournament at this point including Federer, Djokovic and the Williams sisters. If you want to find out more and check this results click here: http://www.usopen.org/ With London in the Sky you can enjoy London’s most sensational dining experience this summer! A personal chef will prepare a culinary feast while you sit back and enjoy the view. From the 17th to the 30th September Events in the Sky will operate a pop-up restaurant in the capital. Open to the public, this event will see eleven of London’s best restaurants transfer their menus and dining experiences to our unique sky table, suspended 25 meters in the air. The table seats 22 guests, with a guest chef, sommelier and waiting team serving from the centre of the table. It’s truly a gastronomic experience like no other! If you feel like treating yourself there are still some tickets available here: http://www.eventsinthesky.co.uk/events/london-in-the-sky-2015/ The Apple Music Festival London returns to the Roundhouse this September with ten nights of incredible live shows from some of the biggest names in music. Local fans can win tickets to see the shows in person; everyone else can watch for free whenever they want to – on Apple Music or with Apple TV. Some of the fantastic acts booked include Take That and One Direction. If you would like to apply for tickets click here: http://www.roundhouse.org.uk/about-us/apple-music-festival/ The world renowned London Fashion Week begins once again this month on Thursday 18th September. I hope to attend a couple of the shows. I wonder what celebs I’ll bump into? Essentially it is a clothing trade show held in London twice each year, in February and September. It is one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks, along with the New York, Milan and Paris. I’m a very fashionable person and can’t wait to find out what I should be wearing. Find out more and try to get tickets right here: http://www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/ Also this month, starting on September 28th, is the London Literature Festival 2015 comprising of talks, readings, comedy, poetry, films, music and free events. The festival provides extensive opportunities to learn about science, technology and art, fused together by the written and spoken word. There’s everything from dramatic mass readings and playful debates to literary cocktail hours, one-off commissions and a Young Adult Literature Weekender mini-fest.
