Spotlight Interview with Rebecca Wood and Tony Sexton, Account Director and Managing Director at OSCAR LEARNING

Rebecca Wood – Account Director at OSCAR LEARNING

Tony Sexton – Managing Director at OSCAR LEARNING

  1. What do you hope attendees will gain at your webinar?

We hope to raise awareness with dealerships that the Electrification deadline of 2035 is just around the corner!  Being ‘Dealer Ready’ is the key to success, with all staff being well versed in electrification and able to maximise opportunities with customers.

  • Giving staff EV confidence
  • Ensuring they are EV competent
  • Training that complements Manufacturer EV Training

With a growing need for more robust EV knowledge in dealerships, we will give you a focus on the EV questions on customers lips; what EV training your staff need in addition to your Manufacturer training; how to ensure your staff are confident in their EV interactions with potential customers.

  1. What discussions do you look forward to having with the attendees?

According to a recent survey by Deloitte’s, half of consumers would consider purchasing an EV for their next car; the world of vehicle purchasing is about to get more challenging.  Although we can train our front-line staff up to know about their EV product line up, customers are becoming increasingly more demanding around Electrification knowledge in general.

  • We want to challenge your thinking on EV training for all frontline staff
  • For attendees to see that there is a mass transformation coming in the industry and customers will drive this
  • Show you that online, bite sized, personal learning is the way forward
  • How the OSCAR LEARNING tool can guide, embed, build confidence and know-how for all your staff

The ‘Cynical Customers’ are out there.  They are reluctant to change from petrol/diesel or even hybrid technology.  How sales executives handle these cynics will inform the purchasing choice in the future.  Convincing, satisfying, reassuring, and educating will be key.

  1. What do you enjoy most about your role?

We’ve sat on both sides of the customer desk – offering services too and receiving them in dealerships.  We have both trained in the automotive industry for years and being able to give staff the tools they need to make a 1% difference in the workshop, in CSI scores, in Mystery shopping activities etc. means that we can demonstrate a return on investment for individuals and stakeholders.

Fundamentally we love our jobs and the passion we have for the automotive industry is evident – the growing EV market just makes it even more exciting – changing habits and mindsets for the better!

  1. How did you get into the industry?

Tony trained staff on the Ford production line for the Model T and Rebecca joined slightly later…😊

Tony – got into the motor trade over 30 years ago, “I stumbled across it and haven’t wanted to get out of it since”

Rebecca – loved it since she started 20 years ago, “trucks, cars, 2 wheels, vans…everyone benefits from training and I love helping change behaviours”

  1. Where is your favourite place in the world and why?

Rebecca – ‘that’s a hard one for me; a tiny little village in the very north of Scotland where my paternal ancestors came from and you feel like the ocean there is the edge of the world….or our family bolt hole in Swanage; both very different but very relaxing.’

Tony – ‘Whitby; memories of visiting as a child, as an adult and with the family.  Somewhere we go to recharge – love the wind, rain, shops, arcades, fish and chips you name it, I love it!’
