1.What do you hope attendees will gain at your webinar?
Dan – Innovation in technology has changed the glassware industry and with it, the opportunity for branding, hospitality and retail. Attendees will be exposed to the latest innovations, technologies and trends showing how modern glassware manufacturing has allowed SignatureGlasses to adapt to meet ever evolving customer needs.
Adi – If the people can come out of the webinar with a better understanding of how a signature shaped glass can positively influence the brand experience, achieve the perfect serve and increase sales then we’ve done something good.
2.What discussions do you look forward to having with the attendees?
Dan – Exploring how beverage marketers can dramatically improve their branded glasses without breaking the bank.
Adi – An interesting one could be what takes precedence, function or form. There is no 100% correct answer and such a discussion brings out many elements of branding, marketing, economics, ergonomics and more.
3.What do you enjoy most about your role?
Dan – Working with an incredible team, using innovation, design, technology, research and hard science to create the perfect serve.
Adi – Most enjoyable to me is the opportunity to meet and talk with people from around the world. Some from the biggest FMCGs in the world and some from start-up brands, from different walks of life but all with passion for their brands, their customers, their products.
4.How did you get into the industry?
Dan – I couldn’t understand why beverage brands, who are so invested and proficient in their marketing and communications, could let it all go at the critical moment when the lips meet the liquid. It seems they were willing to just grab any old standard catalog glass, slap their logo on it and use it as their “glass ambassador”. Then I saw the Coca Cola classic contour signature glass. It was my eureka moment. I realized that one day, all branded glasses would be like that.
Adi – By sheer chance actually. I was working in the Sports marketing and sportswear industry around Europe.
Dan Aylon and Laurence Crook, with whom I had worked with several years earlier on the 2007 America’s Cup Sailing competition called me up one day to ask if I was bored. I flew to Denmark with Dan to see the Carlsberg brewery and that was it. I was in.
5.Where is your favourite place in the world and why?
Dan – Italy. The style, food, cars, art, landscape, design, passion. I can’t get enough of that.
Adi – I reckon that would be Fiji. I went to high-school there and have very fond memories of the people, the place. I remember it as paradise.
And there’s another reason, Fijian rugby is just awesome. The players have a flair like no other and Fiji is the best Rugby Sevens team in the world.
