Tim Smith brings extensive experience in building global, high-growth SaaS organisations that transform the way businesses capture, use and interpret data. In addition to being CEO at HardHat, Tim is also Managing Director of Gold Rhino, a Private Equity firm that funds and assists early-stage tech companies in Australia and New Zealand, and is a key advocate and major contributor to projects that protect and increase rhinoceros populations in South Africa and Australia. Prior to HardHat and Gold Rhino, Tim was the founder and CEO of OnePlace, a Client Lifecycle Management software built for the Professional Services industry that was acquired by Intapp in 2019. Before Tim entered the technology space, Tim worked in the investment banking industry and also as a technology consultant. Outside of software and rhinos, Tim is a fanatic of cricket, rugby union, and Formula 1.
Kristie Young,
Senior Growth & Business Development Executive
Kristie has over 20 years’ experience across technical engineering, strategy, business development and marketing, commercial and client management, diversity and inclusion, governance, and human resources. She began her career as a mining engineer, and has most recently held senior growth and business development executive roles with leading professional services firms PwC and EY.
Kristie is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), WA Mining Club, WA School of Mines Alumni and the Petroleum Club of WA. She currently sits on the board of Wesley College (WA), and the board of the Petroleum Club of WA. She is also a non-executive Director with Primero Group.
Kristie holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) Hons from the University of Queensland, a Post Graduate Diploma of Education (Mathematics & IT) from the University of Western Australia, a CertIV HR from the Australian HR Institute and is a graduate of the AICD.

Prior to HardHat, David was Senior Director & Regional Vice President for Salesforce.com and was responsible for growing revenue, partnership and launching successful emerging technology companies in APAC. David’s extensive experience in growing technology businesses for SAP, Salesforce and industry vendors such as Citect / Schneider Electric makes him a natural fit to champion customer success at HardHat.
