Release liners protect what sticks but usually are thrown away after they have served their purpose. Mondi’s goal is to reduce that waste and make release liner products even more sustainable, because they take their responsibility towards their customers and the planet seriously.
Consumers and brand owners are asking for sustainable solutions and in order to serve their needs, Mondi is taking the lead globally in sustainability. Through their integrated set up and diverse technologies they have for paper and film-based solutions, Mondi is uniquely suited to make their philosophy, paper where possible, and plastic when useful a reality.
Stefan Schoenberger, Head of Product Sustainability Mondi Functional Paper and Films (FPF), will present Mondi’s sustainability strategy and process, and how they work together with their customers to reach their goals and commitments. Andrea Leitgeb-Lackner, Director of R&D and Innovation Mondi Release Liners, will present the three new ranges of sustainable release liner – EverLiner, SmartLiner and NextLiner – suitable for a wide range of applications such as labels, graphic arts, tapes, envelopes and industrial. They will be both available to answer any questions within a 15 min Q&A.

In the release liner industry in various functions since 2003. Her focus has always been in helping customers find solutions for their applications and needs by either further developing existing products or creating new approaches. 2020 was the year of sustainability, so Andrea has been leading the development of sustainable release liner products that fit Mondi’s sustainability goals and criteria – following the principles of reduce, recycle(d), renewable and designed to have a “next life”.

Head of Product Sustainability Functional Paper and Films
In the paper and packaging industry since 2003, after 14 years in strategy consulting and mergers & acquisition he joined Mondi Release Liner Austria as Managing director in 2017. Since 2020, Stefan is also heading the product sustainability area in Mondi functional films and paper. Point of contact in Mondi for sustainable release liners, packaging barrier papers, sustainability in procurement, operations as well as recycling of coated papers.
