Uncovering and resolving oncology enrollment obstacles from behind the lines

Anyone involved with oncology clinical trials is acutely aware of the impenetrability of successful oncology patient enrollment and retention. We’ve recently learned, however, that while many enrollment challenges are obvious to sponsors, it’s the unknown issues within sites and oncology communities that are the most prevalent and insidious. We’ve also learned that personal intervention by clinical oncology liaisons, embedded in an oncology community, is the only way to uncover and effectively resolve these issues to expedite enrollment.

Because these liaisons are received as peers by PIs, referring MDs, associations, and advocacy groups who readily confess trial issues and needs for information and assistance, they can quickly provide specific solutions and leverage opportunities. As a result, the liaisons’ efforts can double or even triple patient enrollments over a 6 to 12 month period.
