Dipl.-Ing. Martina Vakarelova, PhD (Plovdiv 1986) graduated in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in the University of Food Technologies where she specialized in the Technology of Fermented products. She also attended some courses in the University of Ghent, Belgium during her Master thesis. After graduation, she started working in product development in different fields for diverse years always in the role of Product Manager and Business Developer. Later she returned to academics, following a PhD in Biotechnology with a topic "Microencapsulation of bioactive molecules from Spirulina Platensis and Haematococcus Pluvialis". During her PhD studies, she had the chance to spend some time in the lab of Prof. Denis Poncelet, an expert in the field of microencapsulation in ONIRIS, Nantes. After graduating, she became one of the Co-Founders of Sphera Encapsulation - the first Italian company dedicated 100% to research and development in the field of encapsulation.
