Innovative TPE materials allow for Fatty Food Applications
Food safety is an issue that has received increasing attention in recent years. Closely related to this is the product safety of plastic applications that come into contact with food. In the relevant regulations, especially the Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 and the United States CFR Title 21 (FDA), it is defined which materials may be used and how components must be tested in order to exclude any risk to consumers. Especially in the field of TPE materials, contact with fatty foods is a particular problem. Due to the raw materials required, the existing limits, especially for the migration of mineral oils into the food, often cannot be complied with.
In our webinar we show (shed light on) different aspects of the migration behavior of TPE materials. We will discuss about our findings on new and innovative materials with controlled migration. Their migration characteristics will be depicted, using both theoretical approaches and simulations as well as experimental results. Furthermore, we will also stress out some basic design hints we found to be beneficial regarding migration.
Based on our 25 years of experience in TPE materials for food contact applications as well as our latest findings in migration characteristics, we were able to develop some completely new materials that allow for contact to all kind of foods, especially fatty foods. Together with our versatile portfolio of different material series, featuring e.g. highly elastic or compression set optimized compounds, we at KRAIBURG TPE are your partner to bring your ideas in everyday life applications for single-use as well as repeated use food contact to success.
Please register to our webinar and find out more about our innovative materials and the above mentioned topics on product safety for food contact applications when joining the webinar on March 19th, 2020.
