Lighting up ‘dark data’ in industrial operations
Many industries are investigating the impact that changing technology can have on their business and how technology changes apply to specific industries - both in the context of internal processes and across their supply chain. Industrial owners speak of the need to use digital technology to improve operational efficiency and drive increased flexibility, while industrial suppliers look to add value by introducing new business offerings outside their traditional boundaries.
Technology can dramatically and positively impact many industrial business outcomes throughout the project lifecycle. Major trends in technology are digital collaboration, asset performance, mobile workforces, industrial internet of things (IIoT), software as a service (SaaS) and cloud services.
This webinar will present a new solution based on a range of cloud services that Siemens and Bentley are developing together for engineering operations of process plants. Despite the extent to which engineering models and/or schematics may exist for portions of a plant, such engineering information has to date, for practical purposes, been “dark data‖ inaccessible for operations, maintenance, and ongoing plant improvements.
The webinar will discuss how the new cloud-based services can leverage this data to better support decision making and communication. Lessons learned will also be covered to help ensure success and drive positive value.

Ken Adamson is responsible for all aspects of the building, electrical, plant and structural detailing products from conceptual design through detailed design and into lifecycle operations. He recently returned from Beijing, China, where he was based for three years helping to identify new opportunities and expand on Bentley’s design modeling set of applications to meet the specific needs for the Chinese market.
Adamson has over 25 years’ experience in the development of software applications for infrastructure industries. Prior to joining Bentley Systems in 2004, he worked for Aspen Technology, Inc. Adamson has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Liverpool, England
