For 107 hours, from 6:45 a.m. May 7, to 5:45 p.m. May 11 something pretty amazing happened. For four consecutive days, Portugal became a completely renewable-driven country. For those thrilling 107 hours, 100% of their electricity demand was generated from completely renewable sources.
Portugal is not alone. We have admired Denmark and more Germany for more and less impressive renewable events. These countries are not tied to a single clean energy technology. They manage varying mixes of wind power, hydroelectric, wave, geothermal and solar power, as well as biofuels.
No one can deny today that renewables are an important, credible part of the energy mix in Europe. However, managing renewable energy penetration on the grid is highly complex - add to that storage and electrification and the complexity grows.
Utilities need greater interoperability across disparate devices and systems to more simply and cost-effectively operate an increasingly sophisticated and crowded grid. The question is how to master that complexity through technology with one scalable platform for aggregation of load, storage and generation.
Join us on the webinar and be part of a discussion about the challenges and opportunities that distributed energy resources bring in your grid and client group. How to manage these assets and how to balance demand and generation and what will be the impact of this on the traditional roles in the market?
