As always, we like to explore some weird and wonderful events that are happening in different cultures around the world – and this month is no different. Last edition we gave you interesting background information on Mayday and its history and in keeping with our traditions, we would like to mention another fantastic event that is currently in our midst.
It has been 4 years since the previous breathtaking sporting event known as The FIFA World Cup and it’s now upon us once again. For those of you who are unaware (where have you been?) The FIFA World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world, where 23 players in 32 teams represent their countries and compete for the title of the best footballing (soccer) nation on the globe
The culture that surrounds The FIFA World Cup is extraordinary. Communities across the world will come together, not only to support their country, but also to support their love for football. Regularly you can see hundreds or even thousands outside watching games on big screens cheering on teams and most importantly, communities are watching it together. Weather permitting, you can regularly see BBQ parties and lot’s of alcoholic beverages being consumed and people having an enjoyable time. This event even defies time zones with countries on the opposite side of the world, getting up at odd hours to support their country.
If this sporting event doesn’t interest you, The FIFA World Cup is still an excuse to have a good time and enjoy the atmosphere. Let us know who you will be supporting!
In other exciting news, we are pleased to announce that in July we will be updating our webinar platform to ON24. Our new platform will offer more interaction for both our audience and presenters during live and on demand presentations.
As part of the audience you will have exclusive access to a dashboard which includes the live presentation, presenter bios, Q&A and further widgets. The dashboard can be personalised by maximising, minimising and resizing different features for your optimum viewing. You will continue to have the opportunity to submit your questions throughout the live webcast – however, you will now be able to participate in polls & surveys, download resources, contact presenters directly and even tweet about the webinar! All from within the dashboard. A similar level of interaction will continue during the on demand recording of presentations so, if you miss the webinar you can still participate and not merely watch a recording. The new platform is supported by tablets and mobiles so you can continue to attend our webinars even when you are out of the office.
As a presenter, we are aiming to make presenting as ‘stress free’ as possible with a more user friendly presenter platform which allows you to focus on your presentation skills. As mentioned there are many opportunities to interact with your audience, on top of a presentation, you can now show live examples of software, short video clips with audio and even reach out via webcam.
