Sizing the market opportunity and approaches taken by global mobile operators.
Low power wide area (LPWA) IoT technologies in unlicensed spectrum are growing in coverage and adoption, while standardized technologies for use in licensed spectrum are to become available later this year. Major mobile network operators (MNOs) are already deploying and/or trialling these technologies heavily to understand their benefits, both for themselves and for their business customer. The LPWA IoT opportunity is an attractive one for MNOs, particularly those already active in the M2M market.
While some MNOs are deploying or reselling proprietary LPWA technology, typically those with no or limited international exposure, the majority are waiting for 3GPP standards to be finalised and commercialised. While this leaves an opportunity to address demand for such services in the short term, it avoids investments in a technology that may be superseded within a few years.
This webinar will provide insights on the market size opportunity for LPWA IoT technologies across various geographies, and it will analyse in detail the main MNO approaches to LPWA IoT technologies, including examples from leading global MNOs. We will conclude with key recommendations for MNOs, vendors and unlicensed LPWA SNOs in order to make informed strategic decisions around LPWA IoT.
