A Quick Guide to Coated Vials and Where They Make Sense
Highly-sensitive medications and sophisticated production processes such as lyophilisation have given birth to new challenges for the packaging of parenteral drugs. Applying coatings to the inside surface of a pharmaceutical container represents one very effective approach to improving the chemical stability of the packaging. These coatings can provide excellent barriers, reduce ion leaching or hydrophobicity where conventional packaging has reached its limits. Yet many pharmaceutical companies are uncertain when exactly to use a coated vial to package their drug and if it is stable to pharmaceutical filling procedures.
In this webinar you will learn about different types of coating and where to apply them – for example to create a delamination-free environment for your drug, reduce overfilling, or improve the freeze-drying process and the shape of a lyo cake.
We will also give you background about the differences between standard procedures, such as baked silicon, and sophisticated covalently bonded coatings – and how exactly an ultra-thin coating is applied with PICVD – Plasma Impulse Chemical Vapour Deposition.
This webinar is essential for every pharma company that searches for new packaging solutions for highly-sensitive drugs.
