The appropriate design of a single-use process can lead to reduced cost of goods, but developing a single-use technology integration concept requires a deep understanding of possible technical solutions. A typical single-use engineering project begins with understanding key process requirements that lead to equipment and technology selection and the development of a process flow diagram. This is followed by the design of an optimized facility layout with a focus on process equipment and process handling needs.
In addition to the physical integration of the equipment and single-use consumables, automation integration is a key component in the design of modern single-use facilities.
