Single-use technology has been widely adopted by the biopharmaceutical industry. Thus far It has been mostly been used for the production of clinical lots. However, there is increasing interest in using single-use technology for commercial manufacturing. To achieve this aim robust integration strategies and modern project execution approaches are needed.
The appropriate design of a single-use process can lead to reduced cost of goods, but developing a single-use technology integration concept requires a deep understanding of possible technical solutions. A typical single-use engineering project begins with understanding key process requirements that lead to equipment and technology selection and the development of a process flow diagram. This is followed by the design of an optimized facility layout with a focus on process equipment and process handling needs.
In addition to the physical integration of the equipment and single-use consumables, automation integration is a key component in the design of modern single-use facilities. This webinar will describe the necessary considerations for developing a fully integrated single-use process using examples from the industry.
