A Hybrid Cloud solution to the challenges of managing scientific discovery through collaboration with strategic partners and CROs
In the past 10 to 15 years, Pharmaceutical companies have made substantial investments in On-Premise Electronic Laboratory Notebooks. ELN’s have advanced knowledge capture and sharing, increased productivity and compliance within the organization, whilst protecting vital intellectual property. Many Biotechs, government & academic institutions and physical science related companies have since adopted that same successful approach.
However, continued globalization has dramatically changed the way scientific organizations operate today. The hearts, minds and hands that were once confined to a single building or floor, are now distributed throughout the world. While the benefits of the distributed research landscape have allowed organizations better access to expertise, cheaper overall labor costs, and resources, it has imposed some significant challenges in the coordination and management of many scientific workflows. Reporting & tracking scientific projects from afar requires new processes, methods of communication and lighter weight and modern software tools than are commonly found in lab environments today.
Herein, we present our Collaboration Platform to address the challenges in managing a distributed scientific workforce. We demonstrate how we combine a modern lighter weight cloud based notebook, called Elements, with our on-Premise E Notebook to create a Hybrid Cloud solution - the Collaboration Platform. We show how The Platform allows pharmaceutical companies to initiate a workflow Request from the On-premise E-Notebook by securely sending requests to a partner or CRO using Elements. Both the sponsor and the partner collaborate and steer the work in the right direction within Elements and, on completion, transition the work back into the On Premise E-notebook, where it becomes part of the same knowledge capture process as it as it has been for the last 15 years.
We invite you to go and experience Element with our free trial at http://elements.perkinelmer.com and welcome you to contact us and further discuss opportunities to solve your distributed research challenges.
