Wide stakeholder involvement is needed to make business and technology integration happen
What does the future energy system look like and how is the foreseen growing business cake to be shared in a new way? The idea of holistically planned, energy efficient districts of different scale and scope is becoming more and more attractive. Energy conservation and utilization of regional energy resources is a wise response, both from a practical and a branding perspective, to increasing demand for “green†differentiation from municipal decision-makers, developers, investors and ultimately end-users.
How to effectively balance production and consumption in particular in the planning phase of regional energy systems and what is the role of larger energy infrastructure (user-driven market, power back-up/capacity market)? Increased use of various renewable energy sources will reduce environmental impacts and challenge the optimization of energy systems. Matching the energy production and demand in a secured and cost-effective way has to be assured.
How to optimize the cross-energy-management of smart energy systems? Intelligent interoperability and interactive user-oriented control of systems for energy balancing and energy storage is a pre-requisite. ICT with its smart sensors, smart metering technologies and digital platforms will enable integrated, trustworthy and reliable smart energy system communication.
VTT wants to promote the development of efficient near zero-energy and low-carbon system concepts and solutions on district scale. Register for this webinar to learn how this is being achieved.
