How to improve reliability, safety and competitiveness by adopting power-by-wire solutions for the actuation of gas and steam turbines.
Background
OEMs operate in a very challenging business environment. Their objective is to sell competitive machines helping end-users to enhance the turbines performance by improving the efficiency, by keeping precise and stable the power output, by reducing the emissions, by extending the lifetime. At the same time OEMs are aiming to reduce the maintenance cost for end-users by proposing effective measures like: retrofit kits, extension of maintenance intervals and adoption of technology innovation to improve reliability and safety.
Turbine OEMs Challenges and Objectives
OEMs in the powergen industry aim to help their customers, the energy operators, to improve competitiveness and profitability of power plants. OEMs identify the auxiliaries instrumentation and control as a key contributor to the performance of turbines and together with suppliers want to investigate options to achieve the above said goal. Major issues are related to reliability, safety and availability of turbines. How can suppliers of motion control help fix these issues ?
Moog collaborate with OEMs in developing new products and new solutions based on the state-of-the-art technology tailoring the specific needs of each machinery. Moog leverage the proven experience in powergen, and its heritage in Aircraft from which many products are derived.
